Boston Whaler 330 Outrage vs Sailfish 312CC: Which Center Console Fits Cabo?
For a buyer comparing the Boston Whaler 330 Outrage and Sailfish 312CC in Cabo San Lucas, the first decision is not simply which brand is better. It is whether you want the used 2023 Whaler demo boat, a separate new Whaler offering, or the new 2024 Sailfish listing. Those choices have different prices, equipment and purchase checks. We are an authorized Boston Whaler and Sailfish dealer; this comparison uses the boats advertised in our inventory, rather than assuming every example of a model has the same specification.
At a glance: the boats and asking prices
| Listing | Condition and location | Advertised price |
|---|---|---|
| 2023 Boston Whaler 330 demo | Used; Cabo San Lucas; formerly our demo boat in La Paz | $350,000 USD |
| 2023 Boston Whaler 330 — separate new listing | New; Los Cabos | $466,509 USD |
| 2024 Sailfish 312CC | New; Los Cabos | $414,191 USD |
Inventory gives rounded lengths of 33 ft for the Whaler and 31 ft for the Sailfish. Use the actual length overall and beam from the vessel documents when requesting a marina or storage quote. Advertised prices are not a promise of an all-inclusive purchase cost or current stock; request a dated quote and confirm the exact boat before committing.
A closer look at the $350,000 Boston Whaler 330 demo
The 2023 demo listing specifies twin Mercury 300 HP Verado outboards with Joystick Piloting and 150 advertised engine hours. It was previously our demo boat in La Paz; the current inventory location is Cabo San Lucas. Demo history describes its previous use, not a substitute for a survey or proof of remaining warranty. Ask for current engine-hour diagnostics and service records before making your decision.
The listing includes two 12-inch Simrad displays with a transducer, a matching Simrad VHF radio and JBL audio. Its factory options include a stainless-steel anchor windlass with 150 ft of chain, hardtop-mounted outriggers, underwater lights, a bow sunshade, fold-down trolling seats and a triple-axle aluminum trailer. During a viewing, check how the electronics work together, test joystick docking and inspect the trailer rather than treating an equipment list as evidence of condition.
For an owner combining fishing and guest trips, examine the bow seating, shade, head compartment and walkaround access. Try the helm from both seated and standing positions. Bring the gear you normally carry, or measure its storage needs. The practical question is whether the layout accommodates your own crew and tackle without blocking movement. See the demo boat’s photos, video and full equipment list.
What the Sailfish 312CC listing brings to the comparison
The 2024 Sailfish is advertised with twin Mercury Verado 400 HP V10 outboards and Mercury joystick steering. Its equipment list includes twin Garmin GPSMAP 8616 displays, a B75M CHIRP transducer, Garmin radar, VHF radio and antenna. A cockpit sunshade, bow shower, battery charger, covers and a triple-axle aluminum trailer with brakes are also listed.
This is a different helm and power package from the demo Whaler. Compare display visibility, chart and sonar functions, controls, service requirements and access for routine maintenance. More rated horsepower does not establish better fuel economy, longer range or a more comfortable ride. Those outcomes depend on hull, load, sea conditions and how the boat is operated. Review the Sailfish 312CC specification and enquiry form.
Used demo versus new: compare the whole purchase
The advertised Sailfish price is $64,191 above the demo Whaler; the separate new Whaler price is $116,509 above the demo. These are differences between advertised boat prices, not estimates of total ownership costs. A lower asking price can leave more budget for inspection, storage and maintenance, but the survey may identify expenses that change the calculation.
Do not transfer the demo boat’s equipment to the separate new Whaler. Each is its own offering. Ask for a hull-specific build sheet, engine specification, included equipment and written warranty terms for either new boat. Confirm when warranty coverage begins, what is transferable and who can carry out covered work. Open the separate new Boston Whaler 330 listing.
Choosing for Cabo fishing, family use or a La Paz base
If fishing is the main purpose, compare cockpit clearance, livewell and fish-box arrangements, rod access and the route between helm and stern. If family trips matter equally, assess seating, handholds, shade, head access and where bags and safety equipment will go. These are useful viewing checks for both boats, not a claim that one is automatically safer or better in every sea state.
Cabo San Lucas, San José del Cabo and La Paz are different operating bases. Decide where you will keep the boat, how you will launch or berth it and which trips you actually plan. Ask a marina for availability and a written quote using the correct dimensions. Offshore trip planning needs current weather, fuel reserves and suitable safety equipment; no brand name or horsepower figure guarantees a safe crossing or access to a fishing ground.
Questions to ask before arranging a sea trial
- Is this exact hull available, and where can it be inspected?
- Which electronics, trailer and loose equipment are included in the agreement?
- Can we obtain current engine diagnostics and maintenance records?
- What are the survey, sea-trial, deposit and refund conditions?
- Which taxes, registration, import and delivery costs are included or excluded?
- Have ownership, liens and import documents been reviewed by a qualified professional?
Which should you shortlist?
Shortlist the demo Whaler if you want to examine a used 330 with the listed joystick, Simrad and fishing equipment at the lower advertised price. Shortlist the Sailfish if a new 312CC with the listed V10 and Garmin package better matches your priorities. Include the separate new Whaler if you specifically want a new 330. Let condition, confirmed specification, the sea trial and total written cost decide—not an unsupported resale or range promise.
